Intelligent transportation is an important part of smart cities, and electric driverless cars are one of the most effective ways to solve urban problems such as traffic congestion and environmental pollution. On December 19, continental group signed a memorandum of understanding for joint venture cooperation with France's EasyMile and Shanghai jiading industrial zone, in which the three parties are committed to jointly developing and promoting driverless travel service solutions in China.
"Three parties sign memorandum of cooperation"
The CUbE, an electric driverless car developed by continental, requires no human driving and has no steering wheel or brake pedal. The vehicle has mastered the perception layer, decision-making layer and execution layer in the process of automatic driving, and can drive safely in the designated area.
With the technical advantages of different sensors such as lidar, radar and camera, as well as the integrated secure Internet of vehicles (V2X) communication technology, CUbE realizes the communication and data exchange with other road users and infrastructure. In this way, the driverless CUbE car can make timely actions based on real-time road condition information.
The company, founded in 2014, is an expert in unmanned driving and software. It has deployed about 250 unmanned projects, transported more than 320,000 people and traveled more than 600,000 kilometers, according to public records. In fact, continental's first mass production project for driverless technology, such as radar systems, was in the EZ10.
Shanghai jiading industrial zone is a municipal industrial park, aiming to build the "future and present manufacturing base", forming a new pattern of industrial economic development dominated by advanced manufacturing and high-tech industries. Through this cooperation, the three parties will effectively combine their respective advantages and work together to launch future travel solutions in China.
Huo bin, global board member and China general manager of continental chassis and safety business group, said, "the introduction of CUbE, a driverless technology development platform, by continental group in China this year, is intended to develop driverless solutions suitable for China's national conditions and actively promote the development of local intelligent transportation. The trilateral cooperation is also an important step for mainland group to take root in the market."
